When I first moved in, I went back and forth for months on whether to mount a TV above the fireplace. The built-ins and fireplace are the natural stars of our open-concept living space, and I didn’t want a giant black rectangle stealing their spotlight.
But eventually, the convenience won me over — I missed having a screen nearby while cooking or winding down at the end of the day. So, I bought a basic TV and mounted it above the fireplace… and now, every time I walk into the room, I regret it just a little.
It’s not that I don’t appreciate the functionality — I do. But aesthetically? It throws everything off. The struggle between form and function is real.
I’m now eyeing Frame-style TVs or clever disguise hacks — art modes, sliding panels, maybe even a DIY frame. If you’ve conquered this conundrum in your space, drop your tips below 👇
